Track risk lifecycle precisely with a visual timeline & built-in review cycles
What's new?
The risk workflow now includes a visual timeline on the Risk Detail page that guides you through moving risks from open to treated state. Once risks are treated, you can set review schedules (monthly, quarterly, biannually, annually, custom, or never) to monitor them regularly and ensure they stay under control.
Why was this needed?
Previously, managing the risk lifecycle was highly manual and required manually tracking when mitigation tasks could be added, when residual risk should be assessed, and when treated risks needed review. The new timeline provides clear guidance on what needs to happen next, while built-in review cycles ensure treated risks don't go unmonitored. This prevents confusion about workflow order and ensures risks receive ongoing attention in accordance with your defined schedule.
How it works
Guided timeline on the Risk detail page
Go to the risk register and click a risk to open its detail page.
A timeline at the top shows what needs to be done to move a risk to the Treated status.
Clear rules when adding Residual Risk
You can’t add a mitigation task after adding residual risk (a warning is shown).
You can’t add residual risk if any mitigation tasks are still open.
Treated state becomes controlled: After residual risk is added and you proceed, the risk moves to Treated, and no further actions can be taken in that flow.
Review schedule for treated risks: Once residual risk is added, you can set a review schedule: Monthly, Quarterly, Biannually, Annually, Custom (one-time review date), or Never (if it doesn’t need reassessment)
Editing is locked until review: In the Treated state, you can’t edit Treatment strategy, Inherent risk, or Residual risk. These fields unlock when you review the risk.
Monitor state on the review date: When the review date arrives, the risk moves to the Monitor state. If you need to update earlier, use Review risk to edit the assessment fields.
