Debug integration sync issues across modules with clear, actionable error messages

AUTHOR: The folks at Scrut

What's new?

Scrut now surfaces specific, actionable error messages when an integration encounters a sync issue, replacing the generic failure notices that previously appeared. Affected modules, including People, Tests, and others that rely on integration data, now display visible error indicators when data is stale or unavailable. Each error message includes a recommended next step so you know exactly what to do to fix it.

Why was this needed?

Generic sync failure messages made it difficult to identify what went wrong or how to fix it. When an integration issue affected multiple modules, there was no reliable way to know which areas of the product were impacted without investigating manually. With clear error indicators and actionable guidance surfaced directly in the product, your team can identify and resolve integration issues faster.

How it works

  • When an integration encounters a sync issue, a visible error indicator appears in the affected module, such as People or Tests.

  • Click the error indicator to view a specific error message explaining what went wrong.

  • Follow the recommended next step shown in the message, such as reconnecting the integration, to resolve the issue.

  • Once the integration is reconnected and syncing correctly, the error indicator clears and data refreshes automatically.
