Change in Github Integration Mechanism: OAuth to Github Apps
What is this feature?
We're introducing a more secure way to integrate Scrut with your GitHub repositories using GitHub Apps. This new approach grants Scrut read-only access, eliminating the need for full write access previously required with OAuth apps.
Use case/Pain point solved:
This feature addresses customer concerns about granting Scrut write access to their repositories. GitHub Apps provide a secure alternative, allowing Scrut to collect pull request evidence for evidence tasks like "Code Review Result" without compromising repository security.
How does it work?
Navigate to 'Settings' and go to 'Integrations'
Under the 'Version Control' section, look for 'Github' and click "Integrate".
Note: If you have previously integrated with OAuth, you will see the 'Re-Integrate' button.
Click "Connect".
You will be redirected to the GitHub login page if you are not logged in.
After logging in, select the organization where you would like to install the Scrut Automation app.
Note: The app names for the EU and US regions would be Scrut Automation EU and Scrut Automation US. respectively.
Finally, click "Install".
Once the integration is completed, click on the three dots menu and click "Configure Scope".
Select the repository from which you want to collect pull request evidence. Click "Submit".
Integration is completed.
Note: Pull request evidence is automatically uploaded into the "Code Review Result" evidence task on the 15th and on the last day of the month.
