Delete Department Enhancements

We are excited to introduce an enhancement that enhances the management of departments within our system. When a department is selected for deletion, a warning pop-up will now be displayed, prompting the user with critical information about the potential impact on associated policies, evidence, and risks.

Pain Point:

Earlier users were not provided adequate information regarding department deletion's consequences. This lack of transparency resulted in discrepancies related to artifacts such as policies, evidence, and risks. In response to this issue, we have implemented a significant enhancement.

The enhanced functionality now ensures that when a user initiates the deletion of a department, they will be informed prior to detailing the number of artifacts that will be affected by the removal of that specific department. Furthermore, after the department is successfully deleted, the artifacts previously associated with that department will have their department set to "NO DEPARTMENT". Through this users will have clarity on the impact before deletion of the department.

How does it work?

  1. Login to the Scrut platform and navigate to "Settings". Now go to "Manage Departments".

  2. Click on "Delete" for the department you would like to delete.

  1. A modal will pop up notifying you of how many policies, evidence, and risks will be impacted by deleting that specific department.

3. We suggest you change the linked artifacts department to the relevant department before deleting.

4. Once you decide to delete, click on DELETE.

  1. Once the department has been deleted, there will be a toast message pops up stating, “Department Deleted Successfully”.

  1. An email notification will be sent out to all the admins.

  1. Once you click on the impacted artifacts hyperlink, it’ll take you to the Scrut platform with pre-applied filter as "NO DEPARTMENT".
