Ensure environment separation across your entire cloud stack

What's new?

The Separate Environments Exist for Development, Test, and Production CAT test now evaluates environment separation across all relevant cloud asset categories—not just compute instances. The test passes if at least one asset is assigned to each environment (Development, Test, Production) from any supported cloud category.

Why was this needed?

Modern cloud environments use diverse asset types beyond compute instances. Limiting the test to only compute instances didn't reflect real-world cloud setups and could produce inaccurate results. The expanded scope makes the test more accurate, flexible, and aligned with how you actually structure your cloud environments.

How it works

  • The test evaluates environment separation across multiple cloud asset categories:

    • Compute instances

    • Container platforms

    • Databases

    • Storage

    • Virtual networks

    • Serverless functions

    • Monitoring and logging resources

  • Ensure at least one asset from any supported category is assigned to Development, Test, and Production

  • Navigate to Asset Management to assign assets to environments

  • Review updated remediation guidance for clear, step-by-step instructions
