Importing AWS Tags and Ignoring Resources Based on Specific Tags

What is this feature?

We are excited to announce that AWS tags are now accessible to users on the Scrut platform. This release enables users to import tags from the AWS console into Scrut, offering an efficient way to manage and exclude test resources based on specific tags.

Use case/Pain point solved

A user may have two environments, production and non-production, in one AWS account. So, they would have linked some tags to each environment individually to identify and ignore those resources tied to the non-production environment. However, once they integrate that AWS account with Scrut, all the resources would be scanned, and it would be hard to identify the resources tied to the non-production account and ignore them.

To solve this, from now on, AWS tags will be automatically fetched from the backend once the integration is completed. Users will be able to select tags, and the selected tags will be ignored automatically.

How does it work?

  1. In the Scrut platform, navigate to 'Settings', go to 'Integrations', move to 'Configure AWS', and then go to 'Tags'.

  2. Once AWS is integrated with the Scrut platform, Tags will be automatically fetched from the backend once the sync has been completed.

  1. Users can ignore any tags from this section by clicking on "Ignore" so that the resources linked to these tags will also be ignored automatically.

  2. Once the user clicks on "Ignore", they will be asked to add a justification. Once the justification is added, click on "Save", and that tag will be marked as 'Ignored'.

  1. If users want to revert the changes, they can click "Monitor".

  1. The justification added while ignoring tags will be visible when the user hovers over the 'i' icon near each tag name.

  1. Users also have the ability to filter by the respective Account ID, Service, and Status of the tags using the Search bar.

  1. On the 'By Resources' page, users can filter tags, and the resources linked to the selected tag will be visible.

  1. Tags are now visible in the resources table, enabling users to identify the tags linked to that particular resource easily.

  1. Ignored resources will display a justification stating, "This resource has been ignored automatically," providing transparency and traceability.

Design Revamp for Test finding page:

  1. The 'Test Finding' page has been redesigned to provide users with improved visibility of remediation steps and the "Check These Resources" section.

  1. Users can now view the remediation steps in a bigger view followed by the 'Check these resources' section.

  2. 'Check these resources' has a detailed table view with filters enabled for a better user experience.
