Introducing approval workflow for corrective actions

DATE:
AUTHOR: The folks at Scrut

What's new?

Corrective Actions now include a formal approval workflow. When creating a corrective action, you assign an approver who reviews submitted evidence and can either approve and close the action or request revisions with specific feedback, all within the corrective actions module.

Why was this needed?

Without a structured review process, evidence submissions for corrective actions lacked oversight. Approvals often happened over email or offline, with no clear status on what had been accepted or still needed review. The approval workflow creates a clear audit trail, reduces back-and-forth, and aligns corrective actions with standard audit practices.

How it works

  • When creating a corrective action, assign an approver (defaults to the finding creator if linked, or corrective action creator)

  • Add attachments and click Submit for Review

  • The approver receives notification, and the status changes to Needs Review

  • The approver can Approve and Close the corrective action or Request Revision with a reason

  • If revision is requested, make the required changes and Submit for Review again

  • Once approved, the corrective action is closed with a complete audit trail
