Introducing Diverse Vendor Custom Fields eg. Dropdown
We are excited to announce the revamped vendor custom field functionalities. This update allows for capturing more detailed and structured data about vendors, enhancing the compliance workflow.
Use case
Previously, custom fields only supported plain text entries. While flexible, this lacked data organization and filtering capabilities, making it difficult to categorize specific vendor information. The new update introduces six different types of custom fields, enhancing data organization and filtering capabilities.
Creating Custom Fields
Step 1: Navigate to 'Settings' and select "Custom Fields".

Step 2: View all existing custom fields. This list will be empty for first-time users. To create a new custom field, click on "Add Custom Field".

Step 3: Enter the name of the custom field and select its type.

The six types of custom fields include:
Text Box: Allows users to enter text into a single line, with a maximum of 100 characters.
Text Area: A multiline text field that can support up to 500 characters.
Currency: Allows users to enter an amount based on currency selection.
Single Select: Allows users to select one value from a dropdown.
Multi Select: Allows users to select multiple values.
Date: A date-based custom field.

Step 4: After selecting the type of custom field, click on "Save".

Filling Custom Field Data
Step 1: Navigate back to the 'Vendor's Tab' and select a 'vendor'.

Step 2: Go to the 'Overview Tab'. Here, view the vendor's details and scroll down to see the custom fields. All custom fields created in the settings appear here on the vendor detail page.

Step 3: Edit the custom field data. For example, for a single select custom field, select one value. For a multi-select field, select multiple values. For a currency-based custom field, enter the value.

Filtering by Custom Fields
Step 1: To filter by custom fields in the vendor table, select the columns of the custom field from the column selector.

Step 2: Scroll to the right to view the custom fields. To search by any text-based custom field, enter the text in the search bar.

Step 3: To filter by other types of custom fields, such as single-select or multi-select, click on "Filters". These will appear at the bottom, and you can select the desired field to filter.

Step 4: Click on "Apply Filter" to filter the required data. Any filters applied or columns selected will affect the exported data. Only the relevant data based on the filters and the columns selected will be exported.

This feature aims to enhance data organization and filtering capabilities, making vendor management more efficient.
