Introducing NIST CSF v1.1
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework Version 1.1 (CSF v1.1) is a voluntary framework that provides guidelines and practices for cybersecurity risk that was created through a public-private collaboration.
CSF v1.1 consists of three main components:
Framework Core: Provides a set of desired cybersecurity activities and outcomes using a common language that is easy to understand.
Implementation Tiers: Assist organizations by providing context on how an organization views cybersecurity risk management.
Profiles: An organization’s unique alignment of its organizational requirements and objectives, risk appetite, and resources against the desired outcomes of the Framework Core.
The Framework is not prescriptive and allows organizations flexibility in customizing practices based on their priorities, resources, and risk tolerance. It is aimed at helping organizations foster communications on cybersecurity issues internally and with external partners.
