What is Law 25?

Law 25, also known as the “Act to Modernize Legislative Provisions Respecting the Protection of Personal Information,” is an updated privacy law of Quebec, Canada. It focuses on strengthening the protection of personal data, requiring organizations to comply with enhanced transparency, accountability, and consent requirements for processing personal information.

Why does it matter?

With the growing emphasis on privacy regulations globally, businesses operating in Quebec or processing data of Quebec residents must adhere to Law 25 to avoid penalties. This framework aligns with modern privacy principles, similar to GDPR and CCPA, and ensures businesses are equipped to build trust with their customers through compliance.
