Scope Justification enhancement for Controls
What’s new?
You can now add a justification (mandatory) when marking a control as 'Out of Scope,' making scope changes more traceable and auditable. The scope selection UI has also been updated, audit logs improved, and bulk actions enabled for smoother control management.
Why does it matter?
With this update, every scope change is traceable and auditable. Meanwhile, bulk actions and UI improvements save time for teams managing large control sets.
How it works:
To mark a control out of scope, first go to the Controls module.
Go to any control, click the three-dot menu, and choose “Mark Out of Scope.”
A Justification modal appears, where users must enter a reason (mandatory).
Once submitted, the control is marked 'Not Applicable,' and a toast notification confirms the update.
The justification will be visible on the control details page.
When hovering over controls marked "Out of Scope," an icon will display “Justification”.
If needed, users can revert the change by selecting "Mark In Scope."
The previously added justification will be removed. A toast notification confirms the action: “Control marked in scope successfully!”
All scope changes, along with their justifications, are automatically recorded in the audit log for traceability.
A new Scope filter on the control list lets you view 'In Scope' or 'Out of Scope' controls easily.
To simplify bulk updates, you can now select multiple controls at once and update their scope in a single action.
